The Imageworx Innovation Center’s centerpiece is a newly renovated showroom covering 7,000 square feet. This showcases a Lombardi Digistar 430 flexo finishing machine and a Lombardi Sychroline 430UV flexo press. The new Lombardi presses, which are made in Italy, feature components that showcase the best embellishment techniques for the narrow web market. The Lombardi Synchroline flexo press on display features nine flexo print stations with cold foil, a turn bar, a Domino K600i inkjet industrial printer, a BST Tubescan 100% inspection unit, Kocher & Beck GapMaster adjustable anvil system, and SPGprints RSI Rotary screen print module.
Jeff Toepfer of Imageworx comments, “The partnership between Lombardi and Imageworx opens up a new realm of opportunities for Imageworx’s customers.” We are excited to show the Lombardi product line and to demonstrate to customers all the technical prepress advances that we have made.
Avery Dennison also has been involved in developing solutions for the liner-recycling issue. Avery Dennison, in addition to working closely alongside associations such as CELAB and TLMI, also created AD Circular. This liner recycling program was first established in Europe in order to combat the many difficulties associated with release liners.
There are many barriers to liner recycling. Many recycling outlets have minimum volumes that can be picked up, making volume often prohibitive. Other challenges include transportation and cost, as well the geographic location of a liner recycling center.
AD Circular uses a web-based application to schedule pick-up of used liners. It provides useful data such as regular updates of analytics and certificates indicating the amount of liner material sent to be recycled by companies and the CO2 emissions prevented.
“The AD Circular program connects converters and brands, providing opportunities for recycling, landfill diversion, and circularity,” says Lara Pearson, Recycling and Circular Logistics program manager, Avery Dennison. “The program accepts all liner or matrix regardless of supplier.”
