Tallahassee is hosting a gathering of innovators who will be discussing the latest technological advances that may increase housing affordability.
Innovation Park’s Tech Topics hosted a talk on 3D printing in construction led by the CEO of Gulf Coast-Additive-Manufacturing & Design and Precision Building & Renovating Kyndra Light.
Light printed the first 3D-printed home in Florida’s Griffin Heights neighborhood back in October. She suggested that this could be an effective solution for creating affordable housing. Light stated that the Tech Topic would allow her to communicate with higher educational institutions in order to make this happen.
Light stated that his goal was to take this technology to the next level so that affordable housing could be produced. In order to achieve that, we would need a workforce who is well-versed in the technology.
Light stated that they will be launching an internship and workforce development program in September. She added that, once more workers and equipment are available, the plan will be ready by the end year.
